Sun StorEdge 8mm MammothTape records at 21.6 GB/hour and can search more than 20 GB in 72 seconds, making restoring data a quick and easy task. The tape deck features an industry-standard 5.25 inch half-high form factor the most compact format per gigabyte. The patented streamlined tape loading mechanism and capstan free path provides gentle tape handling and deliver high reliability and data integrity -- 250,000-hours MTBF. It also extends the life of the media up to 30 years. Combined with a low Total Cost of Ownership, and backed by a two-year warranty, the Sun StorEdge 8mm MammothTape is a cost effective tape storage solution for the enterprise and Internet markets.
Multiple solutions for multiple systems
The 20-40 GB 8mm tape drive comes in a Sun StorEdgeTM UniPack desktop enclosure with everything you need to run the device on Sun's workstations and servers. Sun also offers an internal drive option for Sun EnterpriseTM 3500 & 4500 series. With a single-ended fast-wide SCSI interface, it connects to most host adapters, including narrow SCSI.
The 8mm tape is supported under SolarisTM, and can accommodate leading data management software packages such as SolsticeTM BackupTM.
