The Sun StorEdge L400 comes equipped with one or two 5.25-inch, 20- to 40-GB 8-mm tape drives, and supports up to 20 cartridges. That gives you 400 GB native capacity and 800 GB using a 2:1 compression ratio). The two-drive configuration performs at a 6.0 MB/sec native transfer rate (12.0 MB/sec compressed)--that's a full six times faster than previous 8-mm systems. At this speed, a 400-GB backup takes just ten hours.
What's more, the Sun StorEdge L400 is easy to use. A bar-code reader automates access to the data on any tape. Cartridges can be accessed manually through a control panel, sequentially, or in random-access mode with SolsticeTM BackupTM.
You'll find a choice of configurations, too: the Sun StorEdge L400 gives you one- or two-drive configuration in deskside or rack-mounted options. The 20GB drives are also available separately as internal drive options for Sun EnterpriseTM 3500, 4000, 5500, 6500 or in a SunTM StorEdgeTM UniPack enclosure for desktop use. Combine that with a drive MTBF of 250,000 hours and a two-year warranty, and you have the ideal storage and backup resource for any workgroup/departmental environment.
